1970s Torchwood V the Autons!
Delve into the corrupted world of industrial espionage in a double bill of Torchwood full-cast audio adventures, both due for release in January 2023 from Big Finish Productions.
The political thriller stars Doctor Who legend Louise Jameson as complex 1970s Torchwood leader, and former spy, Roberta Craven. Joining her is the ambitious journalist, Neal Hart, played by the It's a Sin actor and BAFTA-nominee Omari Douglas.
In an atmospheric tale of greed, manipulation and murder... the Autons are at the centre! If anyone can be duplicated, who can be trusted?
Louise Jameson said: “[Roberta Craven] is a part that gets your actor's juices going. She's anxious, driven, very funny, and has a lost love. Roberta is surrounded by politics and threats and she's saving the world. It looks like she's dropping a pebble in a pond whereas in actual fact she's constantly in the middle of a tsunami.”
Omari Douglas added: “Neal has come across what he thinks is a game-changing project – which spins off into a life that he doesn’t expect. He’s led down this spiral into a world of corruption, governance, and violence! [In Roberta], Neal has met someone who is equally as tenacious, with an air of mystery, and he embarks on an adventure with her.”
Torchwood: Double Part 1 and Part 2 are each available to pre-order for just £10.99 (collector’s edition CD + download) or £8.99 (download only) per title here. Both adventures are set for separate releases in January 2023.
The brilliant ensemble cast also includes Emma Lowndes (Military Wives, Downton Abbey) and Don Gilet (EastEnders, Doctor Who).
Torchwood: Double Part 1 by Guy Adams
1970s London is a place of suspicion and murder. The assassination of an entire embassy comes to the attention of Torchwood.
There’s a global energy crisis. There’s an alien invasion. Petrochemical companies are subject to hostile takeovers by the mysterious Nessoil. Extremely hostile takeovers.
Roberta Craven was once a spy. Now she’s broken. But she can still see the patterns in the world. And they’re closing in around her.
Torchwood: Double Part 2 by Guy Adams
A lot of people have died, and not for the first time in her life, Roberta Craven has changed sides.
Travelling the world with a dead man, she’s negotiating world peace. Or is she starting a world war?
The Autons are coming. And Torchwood won’t stop them.
Producer James Goss said: “A world energy crisis, doing deals for scarce resources with unspeakable entities. An espionage thriller in the spirit of John le Carré, as spies and governments work against each other, unaware they're caught up in a trap by the Autons for control of the world's oil. Because you can never have enough plastic. Welcome to 1970s Torchwood.
“Guy Adams has written a fantastic script and Barnaby Edwards has assembled a phenomenal cast headed by Louise Jameson and Omari Douglas.”
Big Finish listeners can save money long-term by pre-ordering a six-release bundle of Torchwood Monthly Adventures for just £60 (collector’s edition CD + download) or £50 (download only). A twelve-release bundle is also available from just £96.
