More 1960s Espionage for Steed and Tara!
The Avengers are back in the brand-new box set of bonkers spy-fi full-cast audio adventures based on the original comic strips, released today by Big Finish Productions.
Julian Wadham and Emily Woodward return as the British secret agents, John Steed and Tara King, tasked with protecting a royal from assassination before embarking on a Scottish adventure!
And in the explosive closing story, legendary comedian, actor and TV presenter Paul O'Grady MBE DL guest stars as the vindictive station master, Septimus Crump, out for revenge!
Paul O'Grady said: “This is my first Big Finish and the first time I’ve done anything like this. I loved the script because it’s very true to The Avengers. You’ve got the diabolical mastermind – who’s driven by revenge and hatred – but of course, Steed and Tara arrive on the scene and mess his plans up. It’s good fun.”
The Avengers – The Comic Strip Adaptations Volume 07: Steed & Tara King is now available to own for just £19.99 (collector’s edition CD box set + download) or £16.99 (download only), exclusively here.
The fun-filled adventures in the box set are as follows:
The Fabulous Sky Beam Dilemma by Nigel Fairs
Tara gets the cream and Steed has it licked.
A visiting royal finds themselves caught up in a bizarre assassination plot where finding the method will be Steed and Tara’s greatest challenge.
A Tale In Tartan by Robert Khan and Tom Salinsky
Tara captures the castle and Steed crosses the border.
A kidnapping leads Tara into Scotland where she finds herself with a suspiciously familiar sidekick...
This Train Terminates Here by John Dorney
Tara steams ahead and Steed goes off the rails.
A series of railway-based crimes are occurring across the country and it would appear to be the work of a sinister station-master...
Julian Wadham said: “The pace of The Fabulous Sky Beam Dilemma is fun. It’s very visual and is like a film sequence – I enjoyed the journey. A Tale in Tartan is fantastic and has a lovely flow to it. I loved This Train Terminates Here and I knew I would because John Dorney always provides fantastic scripts.”
Emily Woodward added: “I love the big action scenes – that's really fun. As an actor, I also enjoy the quiet moments when it’s just Steed and Tara. There's a familiarity and mutual respect between them. I think she adores him and vice versa.”
The talented ensemble cast, led by Christopher Benjamin (as Steed and Tara’s superior, Mother), also includes Andrew Spooner (as Rupert), Abi Harris (as Bonnie Braithwaite) and Janet Amsden (as Betty Grudge).
Big Finish listeners can save money by purchasing Volume 07: Steed & Tara King and Volume 06: Steed & Mrs Peel of The Avengers: The Comic Strip Adaptations in a bundle from just £33.
