Torchwood - Oracle is out now
More new Torchwood Monthly Range adventures will be released in 2024. Until then, enjoy the third and final part of the Ood trilogy.
“Welcome aboard The Cassandra. Thank you for coming to our aid.”
Danny Bartok, first seen on television in the 2006 Doctor Who two-parter, The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, returns to the Whoniverse today in a brand-new full-cast audio drama from Big Finish Productions.
Ronny Jhutti reprises his role as the neurotic ethicist, alongside Silas Carson as the voice of the Ood, Teresa Banham (The Crown, Robin Hood), Farshid Rokey (Tyrant, Our Girl), James Barriscale (Hijack, Wizards vs. Aliens) and Georgina Beedle (Catherine the Great, Doc Martin).
Torchwood: Oracle is now available to own as a collector’s edition 1-disc CD (+ download for just £10.99) or as a digital download only (for just £8.99), exclusively here.
In the 43rd Century, the height of the Earth Empire. A ship from 1000 years in the future has crashed on a lava world and is calling for help. How dangerous is the knowledge it offers?
The Torchwood Archive sends Danny Bartock. Because only an ethicist can save humanity from the future.
Producer James Goss said: “When the Empire receives a distress signal sent by a spaceship from a thousand years it the future, humanity needs to tread carefully. Ethicist Danny Bartok (Ronny Jhutti) is sent to stop the expedition making a terrible mistake.
“We never got to explore this side of Danny’s character in The Impossible Planet (he did spend much of it crawling for his life) but here he’s trying to devise a whole new field of ethics on a ship that’s sinking into lava.”
Speaking in Doctor Who Magazine issue 598, actor Ronny Jhutti said: “It was lovely to be asked [to return to Torchwood] and exciting to do because Danny takes a central role. He's exactly the same – panicking and worrying as the ethics adviser on a team that ostensibly goes through what Danny's team went through on TV. It echoes the dramatic construction of that story wonderfully.”
Praise for the Torchwood – Monthly Range Ood trilogy stories:
“Torchwood: Odyssey surpassed all expectations. Out of nowhere, a reappearing character from an old two-part New Who episode charges into the Torchwood Monthly Range with her arms swinging. As the voice of the Ood, Silas Carson certainly wasn’t wasted as Ida Scott’s malevolent and deteriorating father.” – Sonic Review Who
“[Claire] Rushbrook and [Silas] Carson paint a painfully honest portrait of a strained family relationship that sings out beyond its creepshow trappings. And the sweet coda is simply beautiful. Glorious.” – Doctor Who Magazine
“[Torchwood: Oodunnit] is another strong entry in an under-explored, and very fun, era of the Institute. Great title too. 9/10.” – Sci-Fi Bulletin
“A smart example of a story which succeeds in using the Ood to their full, rather than as mere bogeymen.” – Blogtor Who
Please note: Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.
